PRIVACY

The short version: this site is a game that wants you to vote. It does not want to know who you are.

What we do not collect

What we count

The application keeps only aggregate daily totals: how many games were played, success rates, score distribution, clicks to the official registration site, share-button use, coarse device class (desktop/mobile/tablet), coarse browser family, coarse referral group and country. These are counters, not records of individuals. The application database does not store raw IP addresses.

Approximate location

Your IP address may be processed transiently, in memory, to derive a country code and a rough “possible Clacton/nearby” yes/no flag using a locally stored geolocation database (no third-party lookup service). The IP address and coordinates are then discarded. The flag is deliberately unreliable and is used only for aggregate statistics. Location never changes what you see. If the lookup is unavailable, everything is recorded as “unknown” and the game continues.

Browser storage

Browser storage is used only for: your sound and difficulty settings, a random daily analytics/session marker (rotates every day, carries no identity, no location and no score, and is never used across days) and your analytics opt-out. There is no persistent cross-day identifier.

Opt out

Use “Analytics: opt out” in the footer of any page. After opting out, no analytics marker is set or read and no analytics events are sent. “Reset local data” clears every setting this site has stored in your browser. Sound and difficulty preferences can still be stored as functional settings unless you reset them.

Hosting logs

Like almost every website, the hosting infrastructure may keep standard security and error logs outside the application database. These are configured for the shortest practical retention and are used only for security and debugging, never for analytics or profiling.
